Revision of EU food additive regulation of annatto

Annatto has been part of Chr. Hansen's portfolio for 144 years. The company now produces the orange-red food pigment in Brazil, the US and in Denmark. The EU is expanding its food categories that allow annatto to include, among others – batters, soups, broths, surimi and flavored drinks. In line with this development, Chr. Hansen details how it has conducted an extensive review of its annatto portfolio to ensure compliancy with the new documentation and labeling requirements.
