Drinktec 2025 live: ADM spotlights functional beverages and lifestyle drinks

19 Sep 2025 | ADM

ADM recently expanded its beverage innovation portfolio. Hélène Moeller, vice president for Global Product Marketing Flavors at ADM, tells us how the expansion elevates the company’s use of hop oils. We also discuss rising consumer demand for natural ingredients in beverages.

I'm a Drink Tech 2025 at the ADM booth with Helen Moller, vice president for global product marketing flavors.

Hello Elaine.

Hello, nice to see you here.

How is ADM leveraging its R&D capabilities to meet the growing consumer demand for functional beverages that support holistic lifestyle goals?

So our R&D capabilities are really at the forefront, especially for our health and wellness team.

Where we develop our probiotics for functional beverages and other functional foods and supplements to give us the right tools and the right claims that are preferred by consumers.

Now, can you explain a bit how the recent acquisition of Totally Natural Solutions is expanding ADM's portfolio and capabilities in beverage innovation, particularly in the use of hops.

So Totally Natural Solutions.

It's really a very exciting acquisition for us.

We are really, really excited to have them as our colleagues now here at the booth.

So with that acquisition, we expanded our portfolio, especially for breweries.

Next to our flavors business, like fruity flavors like citrus, for example, now we have the full capability and breadth of hop oils, hop extracts, and hop flavors that help brewers around the world with efficiencies and great tasting beers.

Brilliant.

Now how does ADM's Taste spark technology enhance the development of functional beverages and lifestyle drinks?

Taste spark is like our magic bullet, right?

So we know that consumers want to have more functionality, but they don't want to cut back on taste.

And sometimes, you know, functional ingredients, they are great, but they may have an aftertaste.

Or they may not meet the mark of what we want.

So that's where our magic bullet taste park comes into play.

If you want to reduce sugar or you want to add a functional ingredient, Taste park technology helps with all of these demands in product formulation for great tasting beverages for our consumers.

Nice.

So now Elaine ADM emphasizes clean label solutions, particularly through the Colors from Nature portfolio.

How does this innovation align with the increasing consumer preference for natural ingredients and beverages?

Our Colors from Nature range is critical for this, so.

We transform crops like carrots into stable colors, vibrant colors that respond to the clean label demand that you referred to, which is very critical in Europe, but of course at the moment, particularly in the US.

And a final question, can you share more details on how ADM is addressing the heightened flavor expectations of consumers in food service beverages, especially with the new proprietary flavor formulations from?

One of the most fun areas that we have a new food service business with our new La Vista brand, we respond to that.

It's About fun.

It's about joy.

It's about having this really good moment when you get a tasty syrup or a beverage sauce, and that gives you this frappe or this slushie that you enjoy for this fun moment in your day.

That's what our brand is there for and our offering for the food service sector is there for.

Thank you for speaking with food ingredients first.

Thank you.

It was a pleasure.
