This is wires at the FIA in Paris, and I'm here with Michael Gusco from Good Mills Innovation and Good Mills Innovation highlighting Yeepee, which is a kind of a yellow pea product.
Michael, can you explain a bit of what this product is and how it can be used?
Yes, this is our latest innovation.
EP stands for yellow pea.
And actually it's a roasted toasted yellow pea, and it's an alternative to soy-based grits, toasted grits, and as you know, soy-based products have a problem in Europe because of the GMO topic and also because soy is an allergen.
Peas have the advantage that they are not genetically modified and they are also not an allergen.
You don't have to label it as an allergen.
This is a bit of a departure for you as a company considering that you have a tradition as a milling company.
Why would you go into the kind of peas?
Actually we have a sister company which has a 100 year tradition in peas and lentils, so we have it within the group, but of course we We have built a special technology to roast it, to cook it, and to get this special functionality of a product which is comparable to the ones you have in soy-based products.
From an application perspective, it really is also very bakery-related bakery, cereal bars, definitely it's a bakery, but you can also use it in energy bars.
There might be some other application areas, but we are not yet sure how far we can go.
OK, what else is in the pipeline?
What else are you working on?
There's a facility you're going to start producing this very quickly.
Yes, we had to build a new facility, a new plant, actually, because the technology which we had till now was not able to produce this ingredients.
We built a new plant and now we have a huge capacity to produce this ingredient and we're looking forward to it.
And the first response which we got from the market, from big customers is let's say.
See a need for these ingredients and there is a demand for this product.
What else is in the pipeline for good mills?
There's lots of stuff texturized wheat proteins and also salt replacements.
We always are very innovative, but it's always a very much customized products also which are in our product launch line.
Michael, thank you very much.
