SupplySide Global 2025: Rousselot’s collagen peptides pioneer new approach to metabolic wellness
05 Nov 2025 | Rousselot
Rousselot highlighted its Nextida GC, a specific collagen peptide composition shown to naturally stimulate GLP-1 and GIP secretion, supporting the modulation of insulin response and reducing post-meal blood glucose spikes. Florencia Moreno Torres, global marketing manager, tells us how the company’s Nextida platform is expected to transform approaches to metabolic wellness, both now and in the future.
This is Elizabeth Green reporting for Nutrition Insight.
I'm here at Supply Side Global in Las Vegas.
I'm with Florencia Moreno Torres, who is the global marketing manager at Rust.
Welcome, Florencia.
Thank you for meeting with me today.
What can you tell us about some of the innovations and ingredient launches that you are bringing to Las Vegas?
Our key ingredient launch that we are presenting today is Nexta, which stands for glucose control.
So interesting about this new collagen peptide is that it's quite specific, so it's not like the usual collagen peptides.
It was specifically developed to boost G1 production from within, from our own.
So this has very good effects in the body.
We have run clinical research, a double-blind placebo controlled study where we tested different dosages of this ingredient versus placebo and it was.
That when taken 30 minutes before a meal, the glucose spike was actually up to 43% less.
So this is quite important because by being able to control these sugar spikes and these sugar drops, we are also able to influence things like fatigue, overall energy sustenance, but also the fact that when we crash after eating, when our glucose spikes are very very high when we crash, this leads to a lot of cravings.
To overeating, so then of course it has bad consequences for things like weight management.
So by being able to boost, we are also influencing this sugar sugar roller coaster, the sugar levels, and then we are also helping the consumers to control these fatigue, these cravings, and of course in the short term, even medium and long term to also be an aid for weight management.
Obviously we've seen the growth of 1 absolutely explode, not only in North America but in Europe as.
How did you decide to step into this area with your knowledge and expertise of weight management?
In this case this was not a thing that happened from one night to the other.
We saw in the last two years is growing so much.
Let's do something with it.
This has been More than 5 years on the works.
We have a whole team of researchers that are pretty much just screening around to see which are based on patents and so on, and you research what's coming up.
So they already foreseen for quite a lot of years that was going to be a big thing.
So based on that, we started to do first in vitro research, then in vivo, then we finalized with this clinical trial where we saw the effects of.
And basically we are tapping on this growing trend, of course, but I think it's very important to point out that this ingredient is perfect for people who want to jump a bit on the train, but they do not want to be taking drugs or they do not need to take the drugs.
We're talking about healthy consumers, but then they can they can incorporate in their.
To support metabolic health but also indirectly weight management or for people who are in therapies because we are talking about collagen peptides so it can support things like skin health, for example, as a protein support which we know these people need a lot, got support comfort as , and it can also support people that stop taking.
So then they don't want to let's say go cold turkey, so to speak, so then they can switch course once they no longer medically need it, so then they can switch to a supplement that's a bit gentler but still boosting fantastic.
And what are the concepts have you brought to supply side Global I can see some beverages here.
What can you tell us about these?
These are mocktails, right?
Yes, so one of the beauties of Next is that it's super versatile, so it can pretty much be applied across any kind of pH or hot and cold and so on.
So based on that, what we're bringing, we have two mocktails, the Vegas mocktails and the Cosmopolitan mocktail, which we are going to try in a bit.
On the other side we have the collagen bar.
So there we have a pumpkin spice cold brew and also hot.
Coffee and here we have some prototypes of Nexa.
So these are actually shots and in this case we blend the next you see with fiber, so it's a little bit of a shot to take before the meals to help you feel more satisfied.
And here we have some other examples of flavor shots like Miami Boost, Bali Morning, Granada sunrise, all kinds of flavors.
OK, looking ahead, what are the next Kind of areas of innovation for Rousselot.
What are you going to be working on in the future?
We are actually it's something we call the Nexa platform.
So just like we have Nexa we are going to have new next focused on benefit areas that are outside the traditional box of collagen.
So I cannot tell a lot right now, but next year at the next supply site.
We are going to be launching our new next with a new complete out of the box benefit that we have found in collagen.
Just the last thing, because collagen makes up 70% of our body, so it makes sense that it's not just for skin or joints or these kind of things.
There's a world of benefits to be untapped, and that's what we are working at.
Very exciting, Florencia.
Thank you very much for speaking with me.
