As E-commerce and the digital food revolution spread across the industry, with online retailers increasingly offering increasingly innovative concepts, the food and beverage industry faces a disruptive period where adaptability will be key. Though technology provides benefits such as improved communication with consumers and better control over the supply chain, the growing popularity of ordering online will require a smooth response, with retailers facing the biggest challenge. Speaking at the 2016 VMT Food Event in s’Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands, Philip den Ouden, Director General of the Dutch Food Manufacturers Association, talked with FoodIngredientsFirst about the potential impact digitalization will have on the food and beverage industry and how it communicates.
