Japan’s Fuji Oil Group has announced the establishment of Fuji Europe Africa BV in the Netherlands “as part of its mission to create the future of delicious and healthy foods.” Fuji Europe Africa BV will be responsible for creating new businesses based on its portfolio of plant-based solutions, including ingredients for meat analogs and highly functional ingredients. It will also expand its European cocoa-based fillings and compounds, oils and fats business, which is based in Ghent, Belgium under the name Fuji Oil Europe, through enhancing this business’s core competencies.
This is Rob Wires at the Food Valley Summit in the Netherlands, and I'm here with now Rokukawa from Fuji Oil.
Now, Fuji Oil recently established Fuji, Europe, Africa within, to really grow your position within this region.
What, what are, what are some of the plans and what's, what's the background to this, this move?
Fuji Japan was established in 1950.
Since 2015, it has been adapting a global holding structure, adapting area strategy.
Now Europe has always been a very important market, not only for Fuji, but for all the players in the food industry.
Fuji having more than 50 years of soy, experience and, devotion into developing its full potential, looking into the current trends in the European market.
Providing our plant-based food solutions looks, a very promising opportunity, and that is one of the primary reasons that we've established this new entity in the Netherlands, Pi Europe Africa BV.
What can we expect to see now in the, in the months ahead?
Yes, we're looking into, a lot of different opportunities.
Obviously, we already have our Belgian operation who's, very good at producing high niche, products and oils and fats and cocoa, filling and compounds area.
Now, the soy part which Huji has a great knowledge and know-how and has not been promoted in the European market in in the past.
So, as I've said, looking at the trends, the plant, plant transition, happening in this part of the world, I see a lot of opportunities adapting our existing technology into, the European market.
This is absolutely the area that we're going to look into.
What might be some examples of how you would work with with soy and because we're obviously here at a protein conference and there's a lot of discussion around.
Potential applications and a lot of looks towards alternative proteins, but, but soy is still pretty strong.
Yes, indeed, yes indeed.
So, one of the purpose of having Fuji, Europe, Africa is to create a global hub for research and development, especially in this protein area and reach out to our potential, partners.
Now when I say partners, it's not necessarily just, other companies, but, universities.
Research institutions so we have a director for open innovation and external partnerships, in place, reaching out, looking for, potential collaboration through those collaborations, I am pretty sure that we'll find the exact area that, we'd like to enhance our activities to.
No, thank you very much.
You're welcome.
