On trend concepts in sweet and savory snacking

The trend for protein and protein-enriched products was very prominent at Anuga 2017. There were innovations across dairy beverages, protein bars, and confectionery – almost every concept enriched with protein. Doehler exhibited plant-based protein concepts from rice and pea proteins. Savory snacking also has huge potential and Doehler are exploring this trend by launching liquid spice mixes. According to Kerstin Bergander, the company is moving beyond sweet applications and there is a real trend towards fruit and vegetable combinations, even in confectionary. Indulgent trends are still prominent, as well as health and wellness.
