Terlato Adds Veneto's Anselmi Wines to Luxury Wine Portfolio

30 Apr 2014 --- Terlato Wines announced that it will import the wines of Anselmi, one of the most innovative and respected wineries in the Veneto region of Northern Italy. The long-term agreement with Anselmi deepens Terlato's Italian portfolio with a collection of premium still wines from the Soave region.

Anselmi is known for its approach to grape growing and wine making as a forerunner in the Soave region. Owner and winemaker Roberto Anselmi makes wines to his exacting standards, adopting unconventional low-yield growing methods and winemaking techniques to produce wines of the highest quality and a higher evolution in Soave. In fact, he decided to forego the Soave name entirely and instead name his wines after his acclaimed vineyards.

Terlato will feature four wines from Anselmi: San Vincenzo, made of 70 percent Garganega and 30 percent Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and additional varieties from the Monteforte area; Capitel Foscarino, made of 90 percent Garganega and 10 percent Chardonnay, grown on Foscarino Hill in Soave; Capitel Croce, a 100 percent Garganega wine from the Monteforte area; and I Capitelli, a dessert wine made of 100 percent late-harvest Garganega from the Monteforte and Soave areas.  The wines will range in price from approximately $18 to $50.

As Anselmi began cultivating his vineyards in Soave, he took risks and made choices aimed at elevating the quality of his wines: a less productive but more aromatic Garganega strain, reduction of the number of bunches per plant and vinification methods that are precise in every detail: cold maceration, fermentation at low temperatures and long ageing periods.

Anselmi Wines have been included in the Wine Spectator Top 100, and routinely receive praise for their complexity, balance and intelligent structure.  As one reviewer noted of Anselmi, "More and more high quality wines are being made around the world, at accessible prices.
