Symrise Opens New Production Facility in Greater Moscow Area
The company is continuing its efforts to expand into regional markets. The new plant was built in accordance with high international standards.
7/4/2011 --- Symrise AG officially put into operation its plant in Rogovo, Russia. As a result, Symrise is the first global fragrance and flavor supplier to manufacture products locally for the Russian and CIS markets. Going forward, major strategic customers can now look forward to a faster and more need-based service. During the initial operating phase, the fully integrated Symrise plant will produce flavors for savory products and snack food. The opening ceremony for the new plant was attended by Dr. Heinz-Juergen Bertram, Chief Executive Officer of Symrise AG, local government officials and representatives of major strategic customers.
Symrise has been operating in Russia for three decades and is one of the leading suppliers in this market. The company is continuing its efforts to expand into regional markets. The new plant was built in accordance with high international standards. Symrise thus has a 40,000-square-meter production facility near Moscow with considerable potential for expansion.
In his laudation, Dr. Heinz-Juergen Bertram, Chief Executive Officer of Symrise AG, emphasized: “The start-up of the production in Russia is the consistent continuation of our strategy of attaining a leading position in the Emerging Markets. We already have a modern development center and sales organization in Moscow. The creation of our own production facility is thus a logical step that will allow us to directly transform our extensive market and consumer knowledge into customized solutions for our customers.”
Heinrich Schaper, Symrise President Flavor & Nutrition Region EAME (Europe, Africa, Middle East), commented on the strategically important manufacturing site: “The local infrastructure will enable Symrise to continue to expand in the growth market Russia. ‘Made in Russia’ is an important prerequisite for market success. In addition, we will do everything we can to acquire a better understanding of the Russian consumer in order to offer customized product solutions.”
Following the festive opening ceremony, Symrise invited attendees to tour the plant. New products for the segments beverages, confectionery and dairy products as well as culinary applications and snack items were displayed in conjunction with ‘Innovation Expo’. Everything was presented against the backdrop of a market concept tailored to the Russian market. In his kitchen, Symrise chef Sebastiano di Caro transformed the new flavor concepts into culinary delicacies. Symrise currently generates over 46% of its global revenues in so-called Emerging Markets, which include Russia and the CIS.
