04/10/06 Two self-avowed "wine nuts" have combined forces to bring exceptional wines to consumers at reasonable prices. Jonathan Barry and Tom Eddy's JuiceBox Wine Company has released seven different types of premium FreeRange wine, all 2005 vintage, in an innovative three-liter 4BottleBox. They are Pinot Noir, Merlot, Red Bordeaux, White Bordeaux, Muscadet, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.
Barry and Eddy discovered years ago that they shared a passion for good wine. It was inevitable that Barry, formerly the President of Wines for a large New England distributor and Eddy, a former investment banker and venture capitalist, would turn their passion for wonderful wine into a business. JuiceBox Wine Company was formed in early 2006.
Barry's long-standing relationships with wine producers worldwide were instrumental in finding the right wines for the FreeRange line. "These remarkable wines are bright and intense, with loads of fruit flavors. They are great to drink alone or paired with food," said Barry.
FreeRange wines are packaged in a three-liter, vacuum-sealed bag with a spout, which keeps the wine in and air out, inside of a convenient cardboard box. The 4Bottle Box, which holds the equivalent of four standard 750 ml bottles of wine, offers the following benefits:
* Freshness -- The wine stays fresh for up to six weeks after opening
* Convenience -- There is no glass to break or cork to fumble with and it's much easier to carry since the box weighs 90% less than bottles, and has a handy carrying handle.
* Value -- Putting more wine, and in this case better wine, into one package plus the lower cost of the packaging result in meaningful cost savings that are passed along to consumers.
* Environmentally friendly -- The lighter packaging costs less to transport and requires less fuel to recycle than glass does.
"Everyone who has tasted and seen FreeRange is enthusiastic," Barry said. "Our suggested retail price of $29.99 for a 4BottleBox equates to $7.50 for a 750ml bottle of wine." He added, "From a quality standpoint, our wine compares to bottles that retail for much more".
