Bully Boy Distillers And Hopsters Release Down Boy Imperial Stout
8 Dec 2014 --- To commemorate the repeal of Prohibition, Bully Boy Distillers, Boston’s first craft distillery, is partnering with Hopsters to release a limited run small-batch specialty beer. The exclusive barrel-aged Down Boy Imperial Stout is infused with the unique flavors and aromas of whiskey and oak that feature prominently in Bully Boy spirits.
The full-bodied stout aged in second-use Bully Boy Distillers whiskey barrels delivers a malty, opaque brew that includes subtle notes of raisin, oak, and the one-of-a-kind caramel and nutty finish of Bully Boy’s own American Straight Whiskey. Created during a collaborative brew session under the supervision of Hopsters’ head brewer Jeff Rowe, Bully Boy co-founder Will Willis assisted in hand-mashing, boiling and crafting the beer earlier this year. The stout was then aged for 90 days in two American Oak wood barrels that were previously used to mature Bully Boy’s handcrafted whiskey for the last three and a half years.
