Bensox Box Acquires Integrated Packaging
"A partnership with Benson Box will help build on that position and escalate the achievement of ambitious targets."
08/12/2007 Carton manufacturer Benson Box has acquired chilled food packaging specialist Integrated Packaging, a month after Packaging News reported a possible deal between the two companies.
All 180 jobs at the 12,000sqm Gateshead site are secure and Integrated Packaging general manager Andrew Pybus will remain in place with support from the Benson Group management.
"Integrated Packaging has responded to highly competitive market conditions by investing in facilities, equipment and staff development," said Mark Kerridge, managing director of Benson Box.
"A partnership with Benson Box will help build on that position and escalate the achievement of ambitious targets."
The deal, which will bring the Benson Group's total turnover to around £85m, will be the fourth major expansion of Benson Box since Mark Kerridge became managing director in 2002.
In 2004, Benson Box bought the order book and staff of Robor Packaging, strengthening its position in the food sector.
In 2005, it acquired Cheshire-based pharmaceutical packaging specialist Medica Packaging and in 2006 it acquired Print Design and Graphics, the food packager based in Newcastle.
Integrated Packaging, whose customers include Bakkavor and Northern Foods, was established in 1977 by managing director Alan Hall and has a turnover of £18m.
Benson Box said future investment was planned at Integrated Packaging.
