Robert Wires at the FI India in Delhi, and I'm here with Sashi Vijayan from Kankor, and Kankor are highlighting the trends towards natural products, including within the color space.
Sashi, can you tell me about some of the things that are happening within from this regard and where you see opportunities?
We do see a lot of opportunities in colors, natural colors, that is, and that, as I mentioned, it started with Southampton studies done in the UK.
The consumers push the industry towards the natural colors.
We see that as a big trend.
Also, companies are working with children, are, focusing on natural colors.
We, we also see, coloring foodstuff coming in a big way.
So we are working on those colors, and primarily, currently we are working on orange, red, yellow, green, blue.
Something which is a kind of a holy grail.
We hope we get approved.
There have been some interest, but we don't have a proof yet.
There are certain products which we see that there are patented products from wheel or others.
There are some products.
We also see, in US that companies like Whole Foods driving the market.
When are you going to go into this coloring foodstuffs space?
We have already started our work on coloring foodstuff.
We hope that it becomes, we have to see how the market grows.
We hope to come out with our products in a year or so.
OK.
And here domestically in terms of the natural colors trend, it's less developed than in Western markets, but where do you see many opportunities here in India?
Yes, we do see that, there are opportunities in India.
One is the regulations, FSCCI is changing.
They are approving new natural colors.
We also have a large young population, which is quite, net savvy and also geared towards natural colors.
We have to see how it will impact and change the industry, so.
In terms of opportunities, there are many.
We have to look at the sustainability of that.
How do you service all those requirements which will come.
So as such, natural colors is going to be the future.
OK.
And another program that you're working on is in terms of kind of roasted flavors for what can you say about this?
We are trying to capture what Indian housewives tries.
To do.
They roast, spices and that we're trying to capture it in Australia.
So we have a proprietary roasting method, and then we extract the flavors and this is perfectly natural without any added.
Which are synthetic or otherwise.
And what type of flavors will we be thinking of then?
Roasted garlic, roasted onions, or the whole range of roasted for which type of applications for snack foods, for basically for snack foods, ready to eat meals, the sauces, things like that.
Sashi, thank you very much.
