Gadot Biochemical Industries celebrated its 60-year anniversary at IFT First 2024 in Chicago, US. The company showcased its mineral expertise, particularly in magnesium. Youval Saly, VP sales & marketing, explains why magnesium has become a key health ingredient for everyday consumers and how to achieve effective delivery in various F&B products. Saly also tells us why magnesium is a zero-pollution solution.

Welcome to you.

So tell us about your company and what you showcased at the show this year.

OK, so Gadot is happy to announce that it celebrates this year's 60 years.

We started from producing citric acid and fructose coming from sugar base, but then we went down.

Stream into minerals and today we say to ourselves that we are an expert in minerals.

And the main trends in minerals today is magnesium.

Why is that?

We realized lately.

The, the ground.

Which grow everything that we eat in the end.

Has lack of minerals, mainly magnesium.

The lack of magnesium is shown in every aspect of what we do.

From calm, from mindset, from regulation of muscles that there are above 300 claims nons in magnesium.

Needs.

Now it started with athletes, but today everybody knows that magnetism is important.

So we are proud to say that we are leading magnesium trend.

And the delivery system is the most important thing.

How we deliver magnesium into our body.

Recently in the states, people are aware that magnesium cannot go into our cells without the correct delivery system.

So today the trend is to go from magnesium oxide to magnesium citrate, or magnesium bisgate, which are the main items that have high bioavailability, and Gadot is proud to say that we did applications of magnesium citrate and bisglicinate into our body.

OK, what are some of the end markets and end consumer applications for your solutions?

So the trend today.

Very known goes into gummies.

Gadot leads magnesium application gummy.

So when you want to do a high dosage of magnesium in the gummies, we use magnesium comes from gadot.

We have the knowledge we have developed a grade of magnesium into gummies.

The other way is magnesium in hydration drinks.

What we want is in hydration drink is to overcome lack of sodium and potassium that we sweat, but also overcome magnesium needs to generate muscles back.

Another new item that we are trying to put into is diary to mouth, meaning one, once you do not have any material in hand.

Like water or like liquid or like shaking ready to drink into water.

We are living the ability to have direct to mouth solution, meaning it's like a lollipop, but there is magnesium inside.

So all in all what we do is we deliver a lot of magnesium ability into the product.

OK, and, looking forward, what will be some of the key areas of your innovation in R&D in terms of future focuses?

Future focus in R&D.

Is to create solution per application.

So for example, ladies are suffering from osteoporosis.

We know that osteoporosis can be taken care of by enhancing calcium into your body as calcium citrate, which is the correct bioavailable product.

But then comes The vascular calcification risk that we have to take, take it out by adding magnesium.

In creating an item called caltumac that we have delivered, we can get calcium content into woman needs and take the risk off.

Above that, we are developing developing several products upon field of use, upon population.

What is correct for , gummies into children is not the same.

Gummies into, eh, elderly people, not the same as for women.

So for each.

Population will create solutions.

OK, and, environmental sustainability is also top of mind for many consumers, particularly younger consumers.

How sustainable is the production of magnesium as a mineral?

Good question.

Magnesium has no pollution, has no leftovers.

Everything is reacted between citric acid and between the magnesium.

To generate the end product that we are using, so.

Fortunately enough, we have no problem of environments reaction over there.
