11/11/08 Taste Advantage LLC announces new ingredients that block negative organoleptic properties that result from preservatives such as Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate.
Both preservatives are very common and cost effective. They inhibit the growth of different pathogens and are used separately or together to provide a wide spectrum of preservative capabilities. A common drawback is the preservatives tend to impart their own taste to most applications. At levels where these preservatives are effective, the taste is generally described as a preservative “burn or bite” or giving one a “lump” in the back of the throat. If used at high levels, the preservatives are known to impart a bitter taste. Taste Advantage products offer a natural solution to this common problem.
The Taste Advantage Bitterness, Acidity and Astringency Blockers are natural, Kosher ingredients by both US and EU standards. They are also GMO free.
“Most of our successes with the blockers have been in beverage products, however they have been found to be effective in other applications as well,” remarked Brian Byrne of Taste Advantage.
