PepsiCo Inc. plans to invest $180 million to construct a manufacturing and distribution facility that will create 280 jobs in northeastern Oklahoma, Gov. Brad Henry announced Thursday.
09/06/06 The operation in Pryor, about 45 miles east of Tulsa, will produce Gatorade Thirst Quencher and Propel Fitness Water at the MidAmerican Industrial Park and service an area of six to eight states. Some positions will be filled as early as January.
"Oklahoma is excited about what this announced plant will mean for the state," Henry told the Tulsa World for a story on its Web site. "The facility in Pryor will bring good-paying jobs and a significant economic impact projected to exceed $5 billion over the next 10 years. In addition, PepsiCo will benefit from a highly skilled workforce known for its unparalleled work ethic and loyalty. This is a win-win for both Oklahoma and PepsiCo."
The building, packaging, processing, and warehousing operations will cost Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo about $180 million to build.
Gatorade estimates the facility will have a $5 billion to $7 billion impact on the economy over the first 10 years of operation.
