06/12/2007 Honeywell Specialty Films has announced that it has broadened its line of OxyShield oriented nylon barrier films used for a variety of food and liquid package applications.
The new product, called OxyShield Plus, is a mid-level oxygen-barrier Nylon/EVOH/Nylon biaxially oriented film. It has outstanding resistance to solvents, oils and greases that is common to both materials. The product also offers superior mechanical properties, good transparency and gloss, easy printing and lamination, and resistance to flex cracking.
According to Honeywell, it also has fully commercialized its OxyShield inline PVdC coated BOPA, which offers an enhanced oxygen and moisture barrier through such coating.
Both developments are part of a broader, more strategic business initiative to offer customers a complete line of nylon 6-based films for all oxygen barrier needs.
OxyShield is used in applications such as packaging oxygen-sensitive, shelf-stable foods for human consumption or pet foods that need packaging resistant to odors, aromas, oils and greases.
