"Homespun" and "Soft Exotics" Lead Comax Flavor Predictions
Homespun are the favors that kept us grounded and feeling good about our lives. After challenging times, we all need food to bring us back to a better place.
12/20/2010 --- Comax Flavors’ development team has delivered their “FlavorVision” for 2011, a culmination of FlavorLab predictions and culinary trend-exchange data gathered all year long.
Comax has prepared new and refreshed flavor profiles which are expected to be of particular impact for 2011. "This year they have focused on three distinct innovative flavor groups: those that give consumers irresistible motivation to try something different; those that offer an invitation to explore new cuisines with provocative flavor combinations; and those that spark pleasant, comforting memories. We believe that consumers are looking for a little escape, so a brief “flavor excursion” is just the ticket for indulgence that is affordable and timely," the company writes.
The Comax 2011“tastes of things to come” fit into these three categories:
Homespun: These are the favors that kept us grounded and feeling good about our lives. After challenging times, we all need food to bring us back to a better place. This group includes flavors like:
• Pumpkin Pie
• Gingerbread
• French Toast
• Toasted Peanut
They are justifiably indulgent, harkening back to a simpler and more comfortable time when everyone was able to celebrate with family and friends.
Soft exotics: This group represents familiar flavors as well, but now presented with an intriguing twist. They give consumers a connection to what they know, but with a shade of the exotic at the same time. These are flavors like:
• Young Coconut
• Orange Caramel
• Finger Lime
• Chocolate Persimmon
These are tastes you’ve known before, updated with a fresh allure that makes you want to try them again. They are somewhat edgy, certainly not your ordinary flavor, but not too risky either.
Take-me-away: These are flavors that give you permission to explore new territories, if only for the moment. These are flavors like:
• Manila Mango
• Vanilla Pandan
• Seville Orange
• Chinese Five Spices
These are romancing flavors associated with international destinations which you may have heard about in travel brochures, stimulating the imagination and delivering you up to new experiences.
