FrieslandCampina Relocates Operations from Oldenzaal to Nuenen
The merger will result in a stronger and more professional business. It is therefore more efficient to merge the operations and to serve the food service market in the Netherlands from one location in Nuenen.
01/07/09 Royal FrieslandCampina intends to merge the traditional and semi-industrial baking and catering operations of Polderland Zuivel B.V. in Oldenzaal with the operations of Friesland Foods Professional in Nuenen (both in the Netherlands). As a consequence, the Oldenzaal location will be closed in the course of 2010.
Polderland Zuivel B.V., part of the former Campina, sells cream, ice-cream and ice-cream mixes and egg products under the Polderland, Campina Professioneel, Neerlandia and Roomland brands from its base in Oldenzaal. The company employs 25 staff.
Friesland Foods Professional, part of the former Friesland Foods, produces and sells cream, butter, cake fillings, desserts and sauces under the Debic, Hollandia and Evri brands. The company employs 36 staff in its sales department and 42 staff in its production department.
The merger will result in a stronger and more professional business. It is therefore more efficient to merge the operations and to serve the food service market in the Netherlands from one location in Nuenen. The operations will be continued under the name FrieslandCampina Professional. The proposed reorganisation fits FrieslandCampina’s policy to control costs and further improve efficiency.
As a result of the closure of the plant, jobs will be lost in Oldenzaal and Nuenen. The situation will be clearer at the end of September. FrieslandCampina’s Social Plan applies to the permanent staff. A suitable solution will be sought for the staff affected inside or outside FrieslandCampina. There are expected to be sufficient jobs available for redeployment at FrieslandCampina. The Works Council of FrieslandCampina has received a request for advice on the proposed closure.
