DMV investment programme kicking into gear
Campina said that Veghel Force is an investment programme totalling EUR 57 million that will put DMV International on the map for the coming decade.
05/09/05 Campina’s Operation Veghel Force has practically reached the stage when demolition and construction work can begin. The Dutch based dairy company, of which DMV International is the industrial arm reported that tender procedures have been completed and that the majority of the contracts have been concluded. Campina said that Veghel Force is an investment programme totalling EUR 57 million that will put DMV International on the map for the coming decade. This step is in keeping with Campina’s strategy, aimed at occupying a leading position in the world of specific dairy ingredients.
“As regards planning we are still well on schedule and we want the renovated plant to be operational in July 2006”, said Kris Moortgat, operations manager of the Industrial Products group.
Nearly all the tenders have been arranged in the last few months. Contracts have been concluded with contractors, builders, suppliers of tanks, evaporators, mains systems and energy facilities.
Most noticeable is the building of an installation, specifically designed for making a new product: WPC 80, Whey Protein Concentrate 80 \. Whey protein concentrate is used in the food processing industry. “Most concentrates currently on the market are made from cheese whey. We are going to produce a concentrate of casein whey, made from skimmed milk. There is worldwide demand for this product”, explains Moortgat. DMV International is going to process the casein whey into a new product that has more added value and a higher return. The ultrafiltration of the casein whey for the new product WPC will take place elsewhere on the premises. DMV Intternational is building a new storey on the existing building where ultrafiltration can take place in large quantities.
Another important part of Veghel Force is the building of a new plant for Food Systems. A plant for toppings, fat concentrates, topping mixture stabilisers and innovations such as Textrion, a replacement for animal gelatine.
The product flows at DMV International in Veghel follow long and sometimes roundabout routes between the various plants. One element of Veghel Force is the ‘untwining’ of these flows.
