Correction: Motif FoodWorks and Impossible Foods’ plant-based patent war continues
09 Dec 2022 --- Yesterday (Dec 8, 2022), FoodIngredientsFirst reported incorrect information regarding Motif FoodWorks’ ongoing patent dispute with Impossible Foods.
We reported that Motif FoodWorks had sued Impossible Foods but this is wrong in fact and we ask our readers to disregard this statement.
Motif FoodWorks claimed on Wednesday (Dec 7, 2022) that a European Impossible Foods patent concerning the flavor and aroma profiles of plant-based food had been revoked by the European Patent Office’s (EPO) Opposition Panel.
Motif FoodWorks said it filed the opposition to the patent on the grounds that it could limit competition.
Impossible Foods does not agree with the EPO’s decision and told us that it intends to appeal it.
