Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. launches Butchertown American Brandy
30 Sep 2015 --- Louisville-based Copper & Kings American Brandy Co. is launching new Butchertown American Brandy. Named to honor the history of its home neighborhood, just east of downtown Louisville, the new offering from reserve casks is bottled at 124 proof.
The history of the Butchertown is traced back to 1796 when Henry Fait established a gristmill in the neighborhood. Since then, the neighborhood has been home to butchers, brawlers, bakers and brewers, artists, artisans, distillers, tanners, orphans and families. Bounded by the mighty Ohio to the north and lovely Beargrass Creek to the east, the current Butchertown renaissance has made it the “Brooklyn of Louisville.”
“There’s just so much to say. Where do you start?” said founder Joe Heron. “We are crazy in love with Louisville, and our local neighborhood. Butchertown is a central downtown neighborhood, but remains a bit of an outsider. Butchertown through history has fought for itself and stood up for itself. It’s feisty, proud, imaginative, and has a strong independent streak. We fit in perfectly.”

The blend is 75% Kentucky bourbon barrels and 25% new American oak – which adds a lot to the character, and a completely new dimension to the brandy – without overpowering the fruit. ”
Copper & Kings Butchertown American Brandy (124 proof/62% abv)

Copper pot-distilled, non-chill filtered spirit created without adulteration by added boisé (oak flavor or infusion), sugar or caramel color for an uncorrupted natural flavor and natural color. Some cloudiness or faint suspension may occur, especially at colder temperatures.
Appearance: Golden mahogany color and slightly viscous.
Aroma: Blackberry fruit with hints of cherry, vanilla and oak. Strongly reminiscent of superior whiskey and Kentucky bourbon.
Taste: Fabulous brandy start with bold, robust, strong whiskey notes with brandy fruit coming towards the back end. Rock ‘n roll, almost rye whiskey-like on the mid-palate. Joyous with superb structure and backbone. High proof “chewy” with hints of Irish pot-still fruity whiskey, stone fruit and peaches and dark cherry in the surround sound.
Finish: Slight tannic, oaky dryness that lingers and spreads on the tongue. Velvety smooth and surprisingly approachable for the high proof.
