Cerestar to diversify beyond starch
A new position of has been created to oversee the development of Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialties Europe’s portfolio solutions beyond traditional starch products, through internal and external growth.
Specialty starch producer Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialties Europe has further signalled its intention to diversify and focus on food ‘solutions’, by strengthening their health and nutrition portfolio. A new position of 'Product Manager Beyond Starch' has been created to oversee the development of Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialties Europe’s portfolio solutions beyond traditional starch products, through internal and external growth.
The move comes on the back of the company’s recent decision to expand its product portfolio to include the marketing and distribution of Cargill’s soy flours, textured soy proteins and soy isolates in Europe.
“We have worked closely with customers to identify the demand for solutions: products that add value and functionality, be it in health, organics, cost reduction or other areas of priority. To create such solutions, we need not only a deep understanding of our customers and the markets they operate in, but a broad portfolio of products and integration of technologies”, said Fabrice Bohin, at the company.
“The role of Product Manager Beyond Starch underpins our strategy to diversify our product range, with a view to offering multi-ingredient texturising solutions. Already this year we’ve added Trehelose as well as soy products to our range, particularly strengthening our offering to the health and nutrition markets. In time, we will develop our work with xanthan gum and other hydrocolloids”, adds Mark Wastijn, marketing director of Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialties Europe.
Already, Cerestar Food & Pharma Specialties Europe is using the addition of soy products to drive its solutions for the meat industry.
