Cargill Continues its Commitment to Canola by Upgrading Canola Seed Facility in Idaho Falls
"Cargill is committed to serving the entire supply chain, by providing high-yielding canola hybrids to farmers that ultimately result in oils with zero grams trans fats and lower saturated fat for our customers and the consumers they serve."
25 Aug 2009 --- Cargill has completed a move to a new canola seed facility on the south side of Idaho Falls. The move almost doubled the amount of space and upgraded equipment to improve product quality and enlist new modern safety features.
"Cargill's investment in this facility demonstrates our commitment to the canola industry and our valued producers," said Jenny Verner, president, Cargill Specialty Canola Oils. "The new seed facility will help improve operational efficiency and assures the quality and purity of our VICTORY Hybrid Canola."
Producing VICTORY Hybrid Canola seed in and around Idaho Falls, allows Cargill to maintain the high oleic traits that are important for our oil customers. "Cargill is committed to serving the entire supply chain, by providing high-yielding canola hybrids to farmers that ultimately result in oils with zero grams trans fats and lower saturated fat for our customers and the consumers they serve," said Verner.
This upgrade completes several upgrades to Cargill's high oleic canola program to match its capacity with the demand for healthier oils. In the past two years, Cargill has expanded its Innovation Center in Fort Collins, constructed a new breeding center in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan and doubled the size of its crush plant in Clavet, Saskatchewan to meet the demand for high oleic canola oil.
