Cargill Announces to Build New Soybean Processing Facility
The new facility will be built adjacent to the existing processing building and, when completed, will increase Cargill’s processing capacity from 95,000 bushels per day to 165,000 bushels per day.
01/06/06 Cargill has announced plans for building a new processing plant to replace its existing processing facility in Kansas City. Pending permit approvals, construction is expected to begin this summer and will be completed by the first quarter of 2008.
The new facility will be built adjacent to the existing processing building and, when completed, will increase Cargill’s processing capacity from 95,000 bushels per day to 165,000 bushels per day. Wayne Teddy, president of Cargill’s Grain & Oilseeds Supply Chain-North America business unit, indicated that the new facility would significantly enhance operating efficiencies.
“This is a strategic investment that reflects Cargill’s ongoing commitment to Missouri’s agriculture industry,” said Teddy. “We are replacing an average-sized but aging unit with a world-class soybean processing facility.”
In Missouri, Cargill has 1,063 employees in seven businesses located in 13 communities across the state. In North America, Cargill’s grain and oilseed business operates 17 oilseed processing facilities.
