Avebe and Ingredion to End Distribution Agreement
27 Feb 2015 --- Dutch supplier of starch-based ingredients Avebe and Ingredion have terminated their distribution agreement that covers North America and Japan, effective 31st March 2015. .
A spokesperson for Avebe told FoodIngredientsFirst that the agreement in South America is still relevant.
In 2007, Avebe and Ingredion (then National Starch), decided to form a collaboration for sales of certain speciality product categories in North and South America and for certain countries in Asia. At that time is was an appropriate solution to utilise the local resources of Ingredion for certain business areas at a time when Avebe was restructuring its business.
Avebe told FoodIngredientsFirst: “Between 2007 when we started to work together with Ingredion, and today, Avebe has made important strategy developments with focus on high end starch innovation and potato proteins. As a consequence of this focus strategy Avebe is aiming to be in more direct contact with its global customers to ensure close connection, instead of making use of a large distributor. In close consultation both parties therefore agreed to end the collaboration.”
