ADM streamlines soy protein operations in US
ADM is consolidating its soy protein production network, with operations at its Illinois, US plant set to close. The move follows the restart of the company’s Decatur East facility, which will now play a central role in ADM’s protein strategy alongside other assets across its global network.
The company says the changes are part of a wider portfolio optimization strategy aimed at increasing efficiency and competitiveness. ADM highlights investments at its Decatur plant, which is expected to deliver manufacturing efficiencies and support growth in specialty ingredients.
Ian Pinner, president of ADM’s nutrition business, says the decision reflects a focus on capital discipline and operational improvements. “Optimizing our soy protein production network is an example of how we’re strengthening our asset platform,” he says. “These actions will help ensure we continue delivering innovative products while sharpening our competitive advantage.”
Pinner adds that the company intends to support both customers and employees during the transition. “We are committed to a smooth, planned transition with any affected customers as we gradually wind down operations at our Bushnell facility,” he says. “We are prioritizing treating any affected colleagues with respect as we advance this process.”
