UK coffee chain plans outlets in India
25 Aug 2005
Whitbread Plc to open over 300 Costa outlets in India.
25/08/05 British group Whitbread Plc plans to open over 300 outlets of its Costa coffee chain in India.
Costa's Managing Director Mark Phillips said the company had agreed to a franchise deal with a local partner and its first store would open in the capital, New Delhi, next month.
Although India produces about 4.5 percent of the world's coffee, Costa will initially use beans imported from countries such as Kenya and Venezuela.
