Tiffin Food Co Launches Ready-Made Meals
The Tiffin Food Company produces eight ready-to-eat curries - chicken curry, chicken bhuna, chicken jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala, chilli fry chicken, chilli paneer, vegetable curry and saag aloo.
25/04/08 Produced by The Tiffin Food Company, the range is made using recipes and techniques that have been perfected over 30 years in the family restaurant trade in Leicester.
The Tiffin has been named best Asian restaurant in Leicestershire and Rutland for the past two years – and now the restaurant’s dishes are being produced for the convenience sector.
The Tiffin Food Company was launched by Monica Parmar, the daughter of Tiffin owner Pravin Parmar.
She said: “Customers of The Tiffin kept telling us that they loved our meals so much that they really wanted to take the Tiffin experience home with them and serve up our dishes whenever they fancied a curry.
“So the family decided to produce a range of ready meals that are made using recipes and techniques that have been perfected over 30 years in the restaurant trade. The dishes are hand-prepared in exactly the same way as they are in the restaurant, using fresh local ingredients and no artificial flavouring or preservatives to create a truly luxurious meal.”

Dishes are sold frozen to delicatessen, farmshops and other outlets in the region, and are also available in selected cash and carries.
Three dishes – chicken jalfrezi, chicken bhuna and chicken tikka masala – went on sale at ten Asda stores in the East Midlands in April. The Tiffin Food Company is also launching into Landmark Cash and Carries and Budgens over the next few weeks.
“We’ve been delighted with the feedback that we’ve had so far about our dishes,” said Monica, who studied food and hospitality management at university, and who has worked in the trade since for companies including Britvic and Holiday Inn.
Each dish comes frozen in a 340g microwaveable portion, and has a recommended sale price from £3.39.
The range is sold in cases of 12, and meals have an eight-month frozen life.
