Tic Tac Packaging Switches to Polypropylene

The packaging will carry both a No. 5 resin code and a statement encouraging consumers to recycle, Ferrero U.S.A. said.

06/08/09 Tic Tac mint boxes will still have that familiar shake, but will be made from polypropylene, owner Ferrero U.S.A. Inc. said.

The mints will now be packaged in polypropylene instead of polystyrene plastic packaging, a move that the Somerset-based company said will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 44 percent and energy use by 34 percent. The company also will use 296 fewer tons of packaging material each year by making the switch.

"Every small step taken to reduce, reuse and recycle is another step toward limiting our impact on the environment," said Tic Tac Brand Manager Jim Morris.
