The Netherlands Packaging Centre to Support 2007 Packaging Summit Europe

Packaging Summit Europe 2007 will build on the outstanding success of the first event, which took place in Amsterdam in July 2006 and welcomed over 200 delegates from across many European countries.

01/12/06 Packaging Summit Europe, the forum for brand owners looking to source suppliers of packaging solutions, including services and materials, has today announced the support of the high-profile Netherlands Packaging Centre (Nederlands Verpakkingscentrum, NVC) for a second year running. The summit will take place 26-27 June 2007 at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam.

Packaging Summit Europe 2007 will build on the outstanding success of the first event, which took place in Amsterdam in July 2006 and welcomed over 200 delegates from across many European countries. The 2007 two-day conference and accompanying exhibition is expected to be significantly larger and attract over 300 senior-level delegates to Amsterdam.

Michaël Nieuwesteeg, director at the NVC, commented: "Packaging Summit Europe is a great event that we support enthusiastically. Amsterdam is a perfect meeting place for a European packaging event like this. The Netherlands always looks at Europe and the world market as the country itself is a limited national market. The Netherlands also functions as the gateway to Europe with the main port Rotterdam and many sophisticated industries related to the development, manufacturing and distribution of packaged products having a presence there. Last but not least, The Netherlands hosts the NVC Chair in Packaging Design and Management at Twenty University, one of the most successful universities in industrial design and engineering."

The NVC is a member of The European Packaging Institutes Consortium (EPIC), the overarching organisation representing individual packaging institutes across Europe. EPIC will also be closely involved with the summit next year and its chairman, Marco Sachet, commented recently: "Every second 25,000 products are packaged for the European market and this same number indicates the amount of opportunities for packaging in Europe. EPIC is strongly committed to innovations in the packaging of products. Packaging Summit Europe is an excellent platform for this, covering the full 'packaging chain' from retailer to raw material manufacturer."

Packaging Summit Europe will offer a packed conference program with the chance for brand owners, suppliers and manufacturers to gather all under one roof to discuss, debate and learn about the challenges facing the packaging industry in a European context. The event is supported for a second year running by HP Speciality Printing Systems, who have been announced as silver sponsors.
