Scelta to Showcase New Concept for Shelf Stable Mushrooms at SIRHA
The SIRHA fair in Lyon will be the first showcase of the Ecopouch, shelf stable mushrooms with fresh taste and texture. A moment which will have a lasting impact on the history of mushrooms.
24 Jan 2013 --- In the view of Scelta Mushrooms, the days of traditional food preservation are numbered. This is why it has looked into sustainable alternatives. This has led to the production of shelf stable mushroom slices in a flexible pouch packaging. Produced via a unique production process whereby the packed mushrooms are boiled in their own juice. A 100% natural product, without the in classic vegetable preserving commonly used salt and acids to stabilize colour, flavour and pH. The result are shelf stable sliced mushrooms with a fresh taste and texture in an easy to open pouch packaging, combining the best of both fresh and preserved mushrooms.
A sustainable solution in which compared to traditional preserves the overall environmental impact of production, transport, storage and waste are reduced. Under the motto: Use the Juice, because the natural juice in which the mushrooms are preserved also can be used and makes an ideal base for e.g. soups, stocks and sauces.
After a long period of research and testing, the Ecopouches have recently gone into production. At the SIRHA in Lyon, the world hospitality and food service event, the first definitive products will be on display and can be tasted. During the culinary reception of the Dutch embassy and Bocuse d’Or the first Ecopouch mushrooms will be processed into delicious delicacies.
