Say It With Nooze: New Startup Delicate Estates Introduces Sardonic Sympathy Cards You Can Stick On Wine Bottles
07 Jun 2016 --- Greeting cards are better when they're attached to wine—at least that's what the founders of cheeky greeting card company Delicate Estates believe. The brand just launched its first line of dark-humored adhesive sympathy cards that double as wine labels. Perfect for sensitive occasions like breakups, getting fired, and (eye-roll) having babies. Also perfect for camouflaging that bottle of Two-Buck-Chuck you're looking to unload.
With sentiments like Sorry You Guys Broke Up, You're Having an Existential Crisis, and I Heard You're On a Cleanse, these aren't your average sympathy cards. But the honest, irreverent, NSFW vibe (not to mention hilarious back label copy!) makes them ideal for your closest, coolest, drinking buddies.
"We thought about all the occasions that warrant a bottle of wine and a reason to talk about feelings," says co-founder Liza Behles, "And we decided to celebrate them." Ms. Behles readily admits that "It was super hard to narrow it down to twelve cards for the launch." Co-founder Courtney Bowditch agrees: "We have at least 50 more in the can that we can't wait to produce. Cards for coming out to your parents, failing out of med school, freezing your eggs, stuff like that."
Delicate Estates is based in Santa Monica, CA, and cards are currently available online only, but the brand plans to expand to retail as soon as, according to Ms. Behles, "We can get our s*** together."
