RPC Kerkrade Lends Expertise to Oculus Wound Treatment
Dermacyn Wound Care is a super oxidized solution, designed to moisten and clean difficult-to-heal wounds, while reducing the bacterial load.
11/08/06 RPC Packaging Kerkrade’s expertise in blow moulding has been instrumental in it becoming the European packaging supplier for a revolutionary wound treatment product.
Dermacyn Wound Care is a super oxidized solution, designed to moisten and clean difficult-to-heal wounds, while reducing the bacterial load. It is produced by Oculus Innovative Sciences, a US company specialising in wound treatment.
When Oculus established its European subsidiary in Sittard, the Netherlands - responsible for producing and supplying Dermacyn across Europe - the company required a local packaging company capable of replicating the brand’s distinctive 5L container.
RPC Kerkrade was chosen for its manufacturing reputation and its proximity to the Sittard facility. In addition, Oculus was impressed by the efficiency of the Kerkrade site and its quality approach.
Although the bottle is based on the existing custom design used by the company worldwide, Oculus and RPC Kerkrade worked together to fine-tune the design to improve its functionality and cost-effectiveness.
Manufactured in HDPE for hygiene and robustness, the container features two handles for ease of pouring and an indented labelling area.
Next to the Dermacyn wound treatment solution, the bottle is also used for packaging Oculus’ disinfectant for medical instruments.
“RPC Kerkrade has proved an efficient and helpful packaging partner for Oculus Innovative Sciences,” comments General Manager Bas Philippens. “Its input into the existing design has made an already-impressive container even more robust and contributed to the high-quality reputation we are establishing in the medical market.”
