Rosé of Pinot Noir Added to the Stellar Line Up at Papapietro Perry Winery
02 Feb 2015 --- Papapietro Perry Winery announced they are releasing their first ever Rosé of Pinot Noir. Since their inception in 1998, they have focused on Pinot Noir, also making a little Zinfandel and Chardonnay.
"Dry Rosé has really gained popularity in recent years," said Renae Perry, Papapietro Perry CEO. "Our customers have been requesting a Rosé from us for many years."
Winemaker Ben Papapietro says, "Given the abundance of beautiful fruit from the 2014 harvest, we thought the time was right to give Rosé a try. We deferred a specific amount of the Russian River Valley grapes for the Rosé. The grapes spent only a few hours on the skins and the resulting color and flavor profile is just what we had in mind."
Since the beginning, Papapietro Perry made their wine in an old-world style, and the process continues. The grapes are hand-picked, hand- sorted (whole berries) and hand-punched. Then they're fermented in one ton open top fermenters.
The winery made 160 cases of The Rosé of Pinot Noir and is available through the tasting room or through their website. Retail price is $32.
