9 Feb 2010 --- Purac has introduced a new product, PuraQ Safe RS50, to its portfolio of natural food safety products. This product is specifically developed for refrigerated foods, to enable food manufacturers to produce safe and delicious food products in a ‘natural’ way. PuraQ Safe RS50 is especially effective in products such as ready-to-eat meals and meal components like soups, dips, sauces, fillings, stuffings and pastas.
Food safety incidents, combined with a growing awareness of food related illnesses, result in consumers demanding safer food products. Coupled with the growing demands for convenience food and natural ingredients, producers are being challenged to offer food products that are safe, delicious and healthy. Purac introduces a new product which provides the answer for food producers.
PuraQ Safe RS50 effectively controls Listeria monocytogenes. The product has been extensively tested, both internally and via third-party research, and has proven to be highly successful. The research was carried out in refrigerated foods, benchmarking traditional ingredients and preservative systems.
“With more than 75 years of experience in fermentation and selling lactic acid and lactates to the food industry, Purac has become an expert in food preservation. This heritage now forms the ideal basis to innovate and develop new preservation solutions, allowing the food manufacturers to keep up with the latest consumer trends” says Ivo van der linden, Category Manager Food Preservation at Purac. “Refrigerated convenience foods are an ideal environment for pathogens to grow, forcing processors to use several preservation hurdles. As processing alone is not sufficient to control pathogens like Listeria monocytogenes, a preservative is required as well.”
Purac is currently further expanding its PuraQ portfolio by developing new preservation solutions that effectively fight pathogenic and spoilage organisms in a wide variety of foods, ranging from beverages, dips and deli products to gravies and meats.
