Premium Ingredients International Establishes Distribution in Canada

PII Food Ingredients will focus on a targeted portfolio of core ingredients leveraging Premium’s strengths in vitamins, acidulants, preservatives, and flavour enhancers, in order to further develop the food business in Canada.

20 Aug 2009 --- Premium Ingredients International has established PII Food Ingredients to expand distribution into Canada. PII Food Ingredients will operate as a division of Bulk Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Scarborough, Ontario. Bulk has been servicing the Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, and Veterinarian Industries for more than 15 years and was acquired by Premium Ingredients International in May 2008.

PII Food Ingredients will focus on a targeted portfolio of core ingredients leveraging Premium’s strengths in vitamins, acidulants, preservatives, and flavour enhancers, in order to further develop the food business in Canada. “We are confident that Premium’s 30 year history of supplying ingredients to the food and beverage industry together with Bulk Pharmaceutical’s customer base in Pharmaceutical, Nutraceutical, and the Veterinary Industry, will provide a winning recipe to expand portfolio offerings and generate new business” said Don Thorp, President of Premium Ingredients International.

“The establishment of PII Food Ingredients will allow us to meet our customer’s demands in the growing and ever changing food, beverage, and nutritional markets. Product will be stocked and shipped out of the same Toronto distribution facility as Bulk allowing us to better service our customers and keep freight costs to a minimum,” Don Thorp added.

Robert T. Chiasson has been appointed Senior Account Manager for the newly created division and will be responsible for developing the business in Canada. Robert is based in the Toronto area and has more than 20 years experience in the Canadian Food and Beverage Industry.
