The Plantic polymer would be used by Visy Industries in its portfolio of food and beverage packaging.
10/03/05 Plantic Technologies, the Australian company behind the development of Plantic, a plastic made from plant material, has announced a strategic alliance with Visy Industries.
Plantic Technologies developed and now manufactures Plantic, a revolutionary plastic from plants which is claimed to disperse rapidly on contact with water and to be biodegradable.
A spokesman said the company had previously entered into an agreement to develop and commercialise Plantic with a global supplier to the food and beverage packaging industry based in the United States., and had now entered into a complementary strategic alliance in Australia with Visy Industries.
“The Plantic polymer will be used by Visy Industries in its portfolio of food and beverage packaging. The result will be plastic containers which use less plastic with improved recycling properties,” the spokesman said in a statement.
Plantic technologies was created three years ago by the Australian Cooperative Research Centre for International Food Manufacture & Packaging Science created to commercialize its intellectual property which produced plastic from plants.
