13 Jul 2015 --- Specialist beer importer Euroboozer is aiming to quench the UK’s ever-growing thirst for unique speciality world beers after securing the exclusive distribution agreement to import and develop the acclaimed beers from Belgian’s biggest independent craft brewer – Palm Belgian Craft Brewers.
Kicking off a summer of exciting new launches and the new partnership, Euroboozer are looking to capitalise on the increased interest for sour beers with the release of Rodenbach Grand Cru and the limited edition Rodenbach Caractère Rouge.
Based in the North-west of Belgium, Palm Breweries dates back to 1686 and now produces over 20 styles of beer across its four historical sites. Under the careful eye of more than 10 master brewers, the multi-award winning brewery group uses the finest ingredients and traditional methods in order to pay homage to the four fermentation styles and Belgian brewing. Palm’s revered Rodenbach brewery was founded in 1836 and is famous for its mixed fermentation beers which are matured in oak casks whilst being carefully blended.
Rodenbach Grand Cru is an exceptional Belgian Flemish red-brown sour beer which was famously called the “Burgundy of Belguim” by the beer writer Michael Jackson. Made with a third “young” beer and two thirds with beer matured in oak vats for a minimum of 2 years, this special liquid perfectly balances the sweet and sour with an intense bouquet and a long finish. The beer has an ABV of 6.0% and is available in 33cl and 75cl bottles.
Rodenbach Caractère Rouge was developed in 2011 in collaboration with top chef Viki Geunes (2 Michelin stars) and once again utilises beer matured for 2 years in oak casks. This limited edition beer also has an additional 6 months fermenting with fresh cherries, raspberries and cranberries to provide a delightfully complex beer with a berry-filled nose, subtle notes of violet, leather and tobacco and with complimentary bitter, sweet and dry flavours. The beer has an ABV of 7.0% and is available in stunning 75cl cork-topped bottle.
Founder of Euroboozer, Martyn Railton comments on the agreement with Palm: “The world and craft beer categories are continuing to see strong growth as consumers go in search of unique and interesting breweries offering exciting beers styles, flavour profiles and most of all outstanding quality. The Palm breweries and their beers have all these virtues and so much more. With summer time well underway and sour a definite taste trend in the trade, we expect these two beauties to be big hits. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to NPD from the brewery so we are incredibly honoured to be working with Palm at such an exciting time.”
Started from the back of an old VW Bora in 2003, Euroboozer was set up by beer lover Martyn Railton, initially importing Austrian brands Hirter, Stiegl and Schremser. The company soon branched out with a deal to distribute acclaimed US craft brewer Rogue and 12 years on the VW Bora has gone to be replaced with offices and a warehouse in Hertfordshire.
The company delivers direct to London and the South-east and also works with a close network of sub-distributors around the UK. While much has changed since the company was started, Martyn and the company’s passion for finding, building and distributing a unique range of speciality beers where quality is king remains the same.
