OiMA has Developed a Machine for Label Printing Inside of the Mould
The machine is capable of simultaneously producing ice cream containers and lids, in sizes from 570 ml, 1,000 ml to 2,000 ml with a production cycle time of approximately 6 seconds, ensuring an hourly productivity of 600 containers complete with lids.
28/08/08 The manufacturer OiMA from Treviso, a member of the Sacmi Group, has recently installed in Pastena (Frosinone) new machinery for stamping and labelling inside of a mould for containers used for ice cream, based on the Packaging Stratos 2220.300 KP press which has a closing force of 300 tons. The machine is capable of simultaneously producing ice cream containers and lids, in sizes from 570 ml, 1,000 ml to 2,000 ml with a production cycle time of approximately 6 seconds, ensuring an hourly productivity of 600 containers complete with lids.
The press contains the automation known as IML and has robots at the side entrance which are capable of inserting labels both in the cavity of the container as well as the lid along with simultaneously sampling the printed pieces.
The labels are loaded electro statically before they are positioned within the mold and continues to maintain the correct position in the cavity during the stage of releasing the pads. Another advantage is the fact that the labels used can have different characteristics, for example the label of a transparent lid has a thickness of 0,055 mm and density of 0,92 g / cm 3, while the label for the container can be in polypropylene opaque foam, with 0,075 mm thickness and 0.57 g / cm 3 density.
OiMA is the leading Italian manufacturer of highly specialized injection moulding machines for thermoplastics. In the last years OiMA has focused its own production on the packaging injection moulding machines, expressly designed for high productivity applications, characterized by elevated reliability and precision in production, mechanical resistance and granting considerable savings in energy and running costs. Typical applications fields are the productions of caps and closures, disposable cutlery, CD-DVD boxes, fruit crates, flower pots, PET preforms and similar products.
