Novel Flour Increases Affordability of Baked Goods

13/05/09 As recession hits and consumers from around the world face the necessity to tighten their budgets, foodmakers are working on new product offers with optimal ratio of quality and price. PAVA, Altay, Russia-based grain processor, keeps abreast of market trends and offers new flour improving access to affordable nutritious food.

In co-operation with the largest bakery plant of the Altay Territory, the company launched a product close in nutritional qualities to wholemeal wheat flour, however with baking parameters corresponding to first and second grades. Zhitnitsa flour from PAVA has already found deserved acceptance and application in various baked and confectionery goods. Now, the opportunity has emerged to use it in production of ‘social’ breads and loaves.

Seeing that bread is a socially important food staple, local governments all over Russia have launched programs to finance production of bread which would be available to all income groups.

During the Siberian forum of bread-baking recently attended by PAVA, officials called on producers to increase affordability of their goods, and guaranteed comprehensive support to their businesses – such as subsidized loans for equipment purchases and partial compensation of flour cost. In this regard, grain processors have a crucial role in providing bakers with economic raw material of high quality.

The presentation of Zhitnitsa was a success with industry professionals at the forum, who remarked that it kept in line with keynotes of the event. It is essential that bread from Zhitnitsa is not only affordable but is also four times richer in vitamins and minerals compared to standard product. Its low sugar content and preventive efficacy for various diseases allow to incorporate this bread in dietary and diabetic ration.
