Novamont Announces Strategic Alliance with AIAB
The AIAB Federal Congress will mark the beginning of a joint strategic project to focus on developing a non-wasteful economy and will aim to identify and promote agricultural best practices.
Dec 20 2011 --- Novamont S.p.A., the leading European bioplastics company, has worked alongside AIAB (Italian Association for Organic Agriculture) for years to promote high quality agriculture and to ensure a sustainable agricultural production chain. Novamont’s involvement in the ‘Biodomeniche’ events and other events managed by AIAB shows its willingness to promote best environmental practices and to raise awareness of the need for more mindful and respectful consumption.
The AIAB Federal Congress will mark the beginning of a joint strategic project to focus on developing a non-wasteful economy and will aim to identify and promote agricultural best practices.
As well as announcing that mulching film made from Mater-Bi is once again being recommended by AIAB, during the congress Novamont will present joint projects with AIAB for the promotion of organic farming in the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano park in Milan, and organic produce in school dining halls throughout Italy.
For 23 years AIAB has brought together Italian organic farmers from 18 regional associations in a single organisation which promotes the development of the production and consumption of organic food. Italy tops the European ranking by number of organic food companies and by exports to EU countries, and has seen consumption of organic food in schools grow to reach a million meals per day.
The AIAB Federal Congress is held every three years. The event is preceded by regional assemblies and preparatory meetings and provides an important opportunity for people from different sectors to meet up. This year it includes participants from every continent, thanks to AIAB’s membership of ifoam, the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements that represents organic and biodynamic farmers.
In order to ensure the event is completely environmentally sustainable, catering products made from Mater-Bi, which are biodegradable and compostable in compliance with Standard EN 13432, will be used throughout the four day Federal Congress.
