New Anti-cancer Green Tea Product with FDA Health Claim
Dr. Lee's TeaForHealth organic green tea inabottle is the first bottled green tea to meet the National Cancer Institute's Standard required for anti-cancer benefits.
10/07/06 TeaForHealth today presented its new anti-cancer green tea product, based on the de facto standard recommended by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for effectiveness against cancer. The new 710EGCG organic green tea "inabottle" product, in four ready-to-drink flavors, were made available for tasting at the 52nd Summer Fancy Food Show. TeaForHealth also today announced that Dr. Lee will make a presentation entitled, "Green Tea as Medicine to Fight Cancer," including the scientific evidence upon which the only green tea qualified health claim regarding anti-cancer benefits was granted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), at the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) quadrennial World Cancer Congress, on July 10, 2006 in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Lee's presentation is part of the UICC quadrennial World Cancer Congress 2006, themed "Bridging the Gap: Transforming Knowledge into Action," being held in Washington, DC., July 8-15, 2006 to facilitate the transfer of leading-edge scientific cancer research from the laboratory to the community. Green Tea with high levels of EGCG antioxidants is also known to be associated with other health benefits, such as reducing the risk of obesity, Alzheimer's disease, and many disorders related to aging.
Based on the pharmacodynamics data published by the NCI in 1996, the anti-cancer health benefit of green tea is dose-dependent. The lowest anticancer dose is 800 ml of green tea containing 710 mcg/ml (-) epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) per day in an adult, which is about two bottles of Dr. Lee's 710EGCG organic green tea inabottle, or about 68 bottles of Snapple or 112 bottles of SoBe green tea.
Dr. Lee's TeaForHealth organic green teas are organically grown, packaged with extreme care for the maximum preservation of the tea's EGCG antioxidants, and independently lab tested to meet the NCI specification. Dr. Lee's 710EGCG organic green tea inabottle is brewed in the U.S. in reverse osmosis water using tea leaves containing a minimum of 7.1% EGCG with patented anaerobic technology for maximum preservation of the tea EGCG antioxidants to meet the NCI specification.
