Nestle UK Launch Kit Kat in No Artificial Colours, Flavours or Preservatives Recipe

10/07/09 Nestlé Confectionery's KIT KAT 2 FINGER chocolate biscuit bars are to be re–launched this August with a new recipe that means they are free from artificial flavours, colours and preservatives.
This move, which will be communicated on pack with a banner saying 'No artificial colours, flavours and preservatives', is part of Nestlé Confectionery’s overall strategy of improving its products and ensuring they can be enjoyed as part of balanced, healthy lifestyles.
Hayley Smith, Nutritionist for Nestlé UK comments; “Our consumers are really interested in the ingredients our products contain and parents in particular are looking for us to remove artificial colours and flavours where possible. Making a change to KIT KAT, one of our biggest brands and a family favourite, is a really positive step forward.”
Nestlé Confectionery has designed a KIT KAT 2 finger six pack, RRP 99p especially for independent retailers and is capitalising on current health trends with on–pack Calorie communication for KIT KAT 2 finger, which contains 107 Calories.
Graham Walker, Nestlé UK Trade Communications Manager, says; “The new pack will be promoted by an advertising campaign, which forms part of the massive £21m that is being spent on the KIT KAT brand in 2009 and we’re confident will appeal to mums in store, driving sales.”
These developments come on the back of a highly successful year for KIT KAT, which is up 23% , outperforming the total confectionery market. What’s more, KIT KAT is the fastest growing top 10 confectionery brand in the UK .
