Multivac Expands Market Position in Spain and Portugal

The experience of both Multivac and Weber in the development of robotics, offer the opportunity of providing automation for a variety of requirements in the food processing.

Aug 1 2011 --- By acquiring Mobepack Sistem S.L., Multivac has clearly expanded its market position on the Iberian Peninsula. In terms of the agreement of purchase of the 30th of May, Mobepack Sistem S.L. has been taken over by Multivac Packaging Systems España.

Mobepack has 6500 m2 of industrial premises with the latest manufacturing technology and currently employs approximately 80 staff members, who will be integrated in the Spanish distribution and service business of Multivac Spain. The manufacturing capacity of Mobepack Sistem will continue being used within the Multivac group of companies.

“The management of Mobepack Sistem welcomes the take over by Multivac, the market leader, and is convinced that Mobepack Sistem can continue fully developing its potential within the Multivac group of companies,” said Francisco Monente, the previous owner. Francisco Monente will continue running Mobepack, until Mobepack is integrated into Multivac Packaging Systems España, and will thereafter be joint chief executive officer of Multivac Spain.

Distribution and service of Weber Maschinenbau

By the acquisition of Mobepack Sistem, Multivac Spain has expanded its product portfolio to include the Weber range of products. In 1996, Mobepack took over the distribution and service of the German Group Weber Maschinenbau in the Spanish and Portuguese markets. Weber is the global leader in the manufacture of industrial slicers and has a position similar to that of MULTIVAC in the global markets. “Frequently products that have been cut by Weber slicers are inserted into Multivac packaging machines, so that these product lines complement each other ideally,” said Francisco Monente.

For many years, Multivac has worked very closely and successfully with Weber in several other countries.

In addition, Multivac takes over an extensive customer base of packaging film processors in various market areas from Mobepack. Multivac Spain intends continuing to market this extensive packaging film range and to expand this aspect of the business quickly.
