M&S Adopts Harrison PP Packs
The PP container replaces a black tray with an outer cardboard skillet and was selected because the retailer wanted to emphasise the fresh ingredients with a transparent pack.
21/05/09 Marks and Spencer has reduced the packaging on a range of ready meals by a third by using Harrison Europac's high-clarity polypropylene containers.
The PP container replaces a black tray with an outer cardboard skillet and was selected because the retailer wanted to emphasise the fresh ingredients with a transparent pack.
The square-cornered tray with a film lid and a wrap-around label was the result of a close collaboration between M&S and Harrison Europac's in-house design team.
Marc Caul, M&S senior packaging technologist, said: "We are extremely proud of our food offer and therefore clarity of packaging was important."
Harrison said that as well as being 30% lighter the packs provide improved uniformity to containers to increase stability during de-nesting, sealing and packing.
Harrison Europac is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Danish firm Faerch Plast and provides a range of plastic trays and containers for the fresh food sector.
