Mariano Pérez Claver Assumes Full-Time Duties as Chief Executive Officer of SOS
The new CEO of SOS was appointed unanimously by the board of directors of the company at its meeting on 29 June last, following the Annual General Meeting of the shareholders of the company.
07/07/09 Mariano Pérez Claver has resigned his duties at the savings bank Caja Madrid, where he was Managing Director and Chief Executive of its affiliate investment company Corporación Financiera, to assume full-time duties as Chief Executive Officer of SOS Corporación Alimentaria.
The new CEO of SOS was appointed unanimously by the board of directors of the company at its meeting on 29 June last, following the Annual General Meeting of the shareholders of the company. At that board meeting Caja Madrid ceded one of its three board seats for it to be taken by Pérez Claver as executive or managing director.
In this way the representation on the board of the company’s present shareholders is more equitably distributed, while the independence of its chairman or CEO is further guaranteed. Pérez Claver will assume direct control for audits, communications, institutional relations, corporate finance and the general secretariat of the board of directors.
This hands-on assumption of executive duties by the CEO of SOS strengthens the capabilities of the senior management of the Group and the cohesion of the company’s highest management body. It also underlines the commitment of one of the company’s leading shareholders to the ongoing future of the organisation.
Mariano Pérez Claver, 53 years of age, has long experience in the industrial and financial world, holding senior positions in numerous financial institutions with major business investments, that of longest standing being with Grupo Caja Madrid, which he has served for the last 17 years.
At present Pérez Claver serves on the board of various companies having close ties to Caja Madrid such as Indra, Realia, Bolsas y Mercados, NH Hoteles and Globalvía, among others. He will now resign most of these duties in order to focus his attention more fully on his new responsibilities at SOS.
