Madhava Introduces Fair Trade Certified Raw Organic Agave
Starting this week, Madhava will be shipping Fair Trade Certified Organic Raw Agave Nectar to supermarkets and natural food stores nationwide.
7 Jun 2012 --- Madhava Natural Sweeteners, the company that first introduced agave to the U.S. market a decade ago, announced its Raw Organic Agave Nectar is now Fair Trade Certified.
Fair Trade USA certification ensures farmers are paid a fair wage for their labor and that strict social, economic and environmental standards are met.
"We are proud to make this important move as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability," said Madhava Executive Vice President Victoria Hartman. "We are pleased to offer consumers the opportunity to make a difference and help support farmers, their land and their communities with every raw agave purchase they make."
Starting this week, Madhava will be shipping Fair Trade Certified Organic Raw Agave Nectar to supermarkets and natural food stores nationwide.
In addition to ensuring farmers are paid a fair wage, Fair Trade certification provides a community development premium which they can invest in programs including new roads, schools, and scholarships.
Madhava Raw Organic Agave Nectar is made from the natural juice of the Weber Blue Agave plant, which is organically grown and sustainably farmed in the Sierra Madres region of Mexico. Mildly filtered and produced at temperatures below 118 degrees Fahrenheit, it offers a delicious, all-purpose alternative to processed sweeteners.
Madhava Organic Agave is Non-GMO Project Verified, low-glycemic and 1.4 times sweeter than sugar so you can use less and save calories. It's a perfect addition to oatmeal, smoothies, iced tea, cocktails and more.
