Lantmannen Cerealia Start Negotiations on the Closure of the Flour Mill in Mjölby
Lantmännen Cerealia has been working on structural rationalizations in its mill activities for a number of years. This has led to a reduction in the number of mills from five to one in Denmark, and from two to one in Norway and Latvia.
21 Dec 2009 --- Lantmännen Cerealia has been instructed by the Board of Lantmännen to start co-determination negotiations on the closure of the company’s mill in Mjölby.
On December 18 the Board of Directors for Lantmännen decided that co-determination negotiations would get underway on the closure of Lantmännen Cerealia’s mill in Mjölby in 2010.
The negotiations will start in week 2, 2010.
Lantmännen Cerealia has been working on structural rationalizations in its mill activities for a number of years. This has led to a reduction in the number of mills from five to one in Denmark, and from two to one in Norway and Latvia.
An analysis of the Swedish mills also took place in 2009. Lantmännen Cerealia currently has mills in Malmö, Mjölby and Uppsala. The review that was carried out shows that the closure of Mjölby will improve competitiveness by increasing capacity utilization and reducing costs. Investments are also being made to increase operational safety and raise capacity slightly in Uppsala.
Lantmännen Cerealia is aiming to have the most effective and profitable production structure possible on a strongly competitive market.
The mill in Mjölby produces around 40,000 tons of bakery flour per year and has 11 employees.
