Lancôme Selects Rexam for 50's-revival "French Touch Absolu" Lipstick

6/16/2011 --- French Touch Absolu, the second all-metal lipstick in Lancome’s limited edition series, is the latest example of the brand’s state-of-the-art packaging created in collaboration with the industry lipstick leader, Rexam.
The idea behind this latest seasonal collection is to evoke a glamorous, 70s “disco ball” design, and is highlighted by intricate gold-and-silver mini-facets. The design reflects the appeal of Lancome’s iconic, engraved metal lipstick, Les Mirroirs, first popularized in the 1950s.
Development of this deluxe, high fashion lipstick presented technological challenges that required expertise in precision metal work and advanced decoration techniques. French Touch Absolu’s appeal derives from the design detail of the two-piece weighted cap, base -- and by the mechanism’s smooth performance. The outer cap is of laser-etched, anodized aluminum, with a visually exciting gold-silver mini-panel design. The effect is made possible by advanced laser techniques.
The lipstick cap is further decorated with the brand’s trademark rose, engraved at the metal forming stage. The lipstick’s mechanism is the Rexam R2000, lubricant-free, used by the world’s most prestigious brands.
